Questions
Below you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions from prospective buyers of unsold lots. These items remain available following previous sales and are offered with no listed price, inviting private interest and best offers.
How do I purchase an unsold lot?
You may buy an unsold lot through a direct purchase by making an offer. Get in touch with our team by phone or email and let us know which unsold lot you are interested in. Provide the lot number or description and tell us the price you are willing to offer for it. Since there is no set price, we invite you to propose a reasonable offer. If your offer is accepted, once payment is received in full, the sale is confirmed.
Why is there no price listed?
Unlike regular retail listings, unsold auction lots are listed without a fixed price. This is because the item’s value is now determined by negotiation rather than a hammer price. We intentionally do not publish an asking price so that interested buyers can make an offer based on what they are willing to pay. In short, the price is negotiable. We invite you to propose a price. This approach ensures a fair outcome for both the buyer and seller, based on current interest in the item.
Are unsold lots available for purchase?
Yes, if an item is listed in our unsold lots section, it means it is still available and can be purchased right away, subject to an acceptable offer being agreed. Unsold items are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The first qualified buyer to make an acceptable offer will secure the item. Keep in mind that unsold lots remain available only until they are sold and paid for, so we encourage interested buyers to act promptly. If you see an unsold item you want, you have the opportunity now to make it yours by contacting us with an offer.
Do I have to pay any fees or commission?
Purchasing an unsold lot will not incur the same additional fees as buying at auction. In particular, the standard buyers premium will be factored into our negociations on price, and therefore not a direct additional cost. There are no hidden charges. You will pay the agreed price for the item plus any delivery costs, again agreed in advance of sale. Always feel free to ask us for a breakdown of costs. Transparency is important to us.
Can I view or inspect before purchasing?
Yes, absolutely. All unsold items are kept at our auction house premises and can be viewed in person by appointment. We encourage prospective buyers to inspect items themselves, especially for valuable or unique pieces. You can contact us to schedule a viewing at a mutually convenient time. Our staff will be happy to show you the item and answer any questions about its condition, history, or provenance. Keep in mind that items are sold as seen, with no guarantees of condition beyond what is described, so taking the opportunity to inspect is a wise step. We can also provide additional photographs or condition reports upon request if you cannot visit in person.
Can you deliver the item to me?
Yes, we offer nationwide delivery for items purchased from our unsold lots, and can often arrange international shipping as well. Delivery is at an additional cost paid by the buyer, and the price will depend on many factors. We are happy to obtain a delivery quote for you on request. Our team can handle packing and coordinating with professional couriers to ensure your item reaches you safely. Alternatively, you are welcome to collect the item in person from our location by appointment if you prefer.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept all standard payment methods for unsold lot sales. Typically, buyers can pay via bank transfer, which is our preferred method for larger amounts. We also accept major credit or debit cards, and cash payments up to a limit, if paying in person. If paying by card remotely, we may send you a secure payment link or process the card over the phone, subject to verification. In some cases, banker’s drafts or cheques may be accepted by prior arrangement, though we would need to wait for clearance before releasing the item.
Are sales of unsold lots final?
Purchases of unsold lots are final sales, just like purchases at auction. All items are sold on an as is basis, without warranties or guarantees, unless explicitly stated otherwise. This means it’s the buyer’s responsibility to review the item and its description before purchasing. We do our utmost to provide accurate descriptions and condition information for each lot, and we encourage in-person viewing or asking for condition reports to avoid any surprises. Once an offer is accepted and the sale is completed, we cannot accept returns or cancellations. The item becomes your property.
How long will lots be available?
There is no fixed expiration date for how long an unsold lot remains on the market. It varies by item. Generally, an unsold lot will stay listed on our site until it is sold or we decide to remove it from sale. We actively promote unsold items for a period of time following the auction. If a lot remains unsold for an extended period, we consider other options including inclusion in the next online auction.
